Pick Up Your Camera On May 15 & Join Project ADay–The World In Photographs [Updates]

Photographers of the world – unite! On May 15th, a project by the name of ADay will kick off, uniting photos taken all over the world by professionals, amateurs and anyone else who can get a hold of a camera. The purpose of the project is to collect as many photos as possible from all around the world, all taken on the same day, and create a "unique online experience where photographs will be shared, compared and explored".

ADay is a project initiated by the Swedish non-profit foundation Expressions of Humankind, and is already open for registration, although you can't upload photos just yet. All the photos in the project will be divided into three main categories: home, work and connections. Each category is divided into sub-categories, which end up including pretty much anything you can think of. When you upload your photo on May 15th, you will have to choose the category which suits it best.

Any photograph submitted to the project will be accepted, but if you're looking for ideas and inspiration, check out the project’s What to Shoot page. All the uploaded photos will be displayed online and some will even be selected for a book called “A Day In the World” which will be published on October 2012. Some will also be featured in printed and digital exhibitions.

You have until May 15th to get ready, create and account and get to know the project. On May 15th, take out your camera and shoot. You then have from May 15th to May 22nd to upload your photos. Each participant can upload up to 10 photos, in what will hopefully become the most interesting and inspiring photo collection on the web.

Do you plan to join ADay? What do you think of this project?
